ARTS EDUCATION.

GALA provides quality educational and theatrical opportunities and arts engagement for students grades K-12. Students can engage with GALA arts programs through Paso Nuevo, Student Matinees, and GALita.

Since 1980, GALita has produced bilingual children’s theater that inspire a sense of joy, discovery, pride, and identity in our community’s children ages 4 to 12. GALita presents new works and adaptations based on classic Latin American and Hispanic literature.

PASO NUEVO.

Paso Nuevo is GALA's award-winning, free, year-round program offered to DC students between the ages of 14 and 19.

STUDENT MATINEES.

For the 2024-25 academic year, GALA offers in-person performances.

For elementary schoolers, we offer two shows through GALita, our bilingual program for young audiences. For middle and high schoolers, we offer three main stage productions and one Flamenco show. More information can be found here.

FREE TICKETS.

Teachers who reserve a student matinee receive one complimentary ticket to an evening or weekend performance of the show that corresponds to their student matinee reservation.

Student matinee must be paid in full prior to reserving the complimentary ticket.

STUDY GUIDES.

GALA offers study guides in both English and Spanish for all educational student matinees, and can be found here. They are also offered in plain text upon request.

These study guides may be used for lesson plans, pre-show analysis, and more.
